A focus on community is always an essential component of Thomas Foundation support. We organize special events, forums, and activities designed to empower communities to achieve their self-defined goals. A healthy community seeks to meet the needs of all of its members, not only in terms of their material wellbeing but also with respect to their agency, autonomy, and unique vision. We support community initiatives that foster:
- Communication - The free exchange of ideas is crucial to address emerging challenges and enable communities to design and implement creative solutions to complex issues.
- Development - To fully realize the potential of individuals and communities, economic growth must be complemented by cultural achievement, educational attainment, environmental conservation, and other elements of holistic social progress.
- Wellness - Building coalitions around the concept of wellness can encourage a more comprehensive approach to healthcare and to the general commitment of societies to the welfare of all their members.
